Sometimes the hardest part of living with photosensitivity isn’t just the daily restrictions, it’s the heartbreak of trying to give your child a special experience, only to have it end in pain because of the sun. Families often make brave attempts at vacations, outings, or milestone trips, only to watch those dreams collapse when a reaction cuts the day short. At Shadow Jumpers, we believe no child should have their happiest moments defined by disappointment. That’s why one of our favorite forms of assistance is 2nd Chance Failed Experiences.

“A family trip to Disney world feels like a required trip for every young family and we were so excited to make it work with our EPP daughter. Unfortunately it was tragic and we spent most of the trip recovering in our hotel room. A year later Shadow Jumpers planned a complete re-do experience, this time sun proof with a VIP tour guide, help tips and strategic planning for each day. We finally got our magical experienced after all.”

This unique assistance gives families the opportunity to redo and reclaim experiences that didn’t go as planned. Shadow Jumpers works directly with parents to learn what trip or activity fell short and then carefully recreates it, this time with every safety measure in place and all costs covered.
In true Shadow Jumpers fashion, we will often times look to build on the previous attempt and add more fun activities and aspects.

Families applying for assistance with a re-do trip are encouraged to submit any submission except Disney World and Disney Land (which Shadow Jumpers unfortunately stopped providing assistance to in 2021).
Families will need to include a detailed summary of their past experience which includes what the trip was, to where and when, why and how it fails and the importance of trying to re-do.
While not required, submitting old photos of the trip would be beneficial in reviewing their submission.
Re-do experience requests are approved based on a variety of factors including budget, family impact, sun safety capabilities and more.
