“All Fun, No Sun” is back for year 3
Shadow Jumpers and the United Porphyrias Association are looking for 32 photosensitive families (and 40 photosensitive related adult volunteers) for our 4 days, 3 nights at Victory Junction in Randleman, North Carolina.
From coverings on exposed windows and providing every child with an UV umbrella to providing transportation around the campgrounds and even noting all the indoor lighting, Sun Escape wastes no resource to make sure we take all the sun out of the weekend’s fun.

In addition to removing the sun, we also strive to alleviate the financial strain of traveling to camp. Shadow Jumpers and the United Porphyrias Association are delighted to offer families a full reimbursement of their reasonable travel expenses for attending Sun Escape Weekend 2026. Volunteers can receive travel stipends ranging from $500 to $600!
PERSONALIZED CAMP THEME
Building on the success of our inaugural 2025 theme, BE HEROIC, Sun Escape is excited to unveil a new theme this year that focuses on another shared aspect of our photosensitive journey. Families can look forward to completing a survey before camp to assist us in tailoring the experience for their photosensitive camper. Our theme will be announced in December.
Application Window - October 10 to December 6
Potential camp families and volunteers can visit our website for more information and to apply. Accepted families and volunteers will be notified via email the week of December 8th with information regarding the next steps in the pre camp process. Not all applicants will be accepted.
