EPP’er in running for Athlete of the year
One of our favorite Shadow Jumpers (and families) Deagon Campbell is in the running for Youth Athlete of the Year. Suffering from Erythropoietic Protoporphyria, Deagon has not let his hardships around the sun from keeping him from participating in the sport he loves, football.
A love for the game
Deagon uses a UV tinted visor and complete protective clothing to pursue his love of football despite his EPP.
Youth Athlete of the Year is a nationwide competition for athletes aged 7-17. The champion will take home $25,000, and appear in a Colossal/3BRAND advertisement in Sports Illustrated.
Shadow Jumpers has been part of Deagon’s EPP journey dating all the way back to 2021 when we assisted the Campbell family in acquiring a golf cart to help limit Deagon’s UV exposure during the family’s summer long stays at an RV camp ground.
Speaking of that previous assistance, Deagon’s mother Andrea wrote “We chose to purchase a spot at a campground where our entire family could have fun throughout the summer. However, we soon discovered that the most kid-friendly amenities were quite a distance apart, with no shade along the way.”
Riding in style

His father Brad added “,When we connected with Shadow Jumpers, they generously provided Deagon with his own golf cart to navigate the grounds throughout the summer (and beyond). Deagon now enjoys riding with a roof overhead, a sun-proof windshield, and arrives at events ready to jump out and have fun. While his brothers revel in biking, he gets to blend in with the crowd without worrying about the sun or sweating while shadow jumping from one spot to another.”
You can cast your vote for Deagon HERE until the group voting phase concludes on Thursday September 4th at 10:00pm eastern. Deagon must finish first in his group to advance to the round of 16.
